Parent Wellness Sessions @ Lincoln Middle School

Dear Parents,

Lincoln Middle School in conjunction with Region 19 will be offering a very important series of Parent Wellness sessions

They will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The sessions will be every Wednesday for four weeks in a row at 11:30 a.m.

Sept. 4 - Parenting in the Age of Social Media - Explore the need for Social Media and its pros and cons. Understand the impact of Social Media in children and adolescents. Learn skills to support adolescents when Social Media is impacting them negatively.

Sept. 11 - Inappropriate Texting: Do You Really Know? - Understand normal sexual development. Learn the emotional and legal impact of inappropriate texting. Learn different ways to approach and prevent inappropriate texting.

Sept. 18 - Communication and Giving Back Responsibility. - Create awareness on the importance of perspective in child-parent relationships. Learn "rules of thumb" to change the perspective of the parents towards the child's behavior. Learn a specific language to give back responsibility to the child and dissipate the feeling of guilt.

Sept. 25 - Understanding Anxiety, Depression and Anger. Explore the origin of anxiety, depression and anger in adolescence. Learn the impact of perspective taking and connection. Learn different techniques to approach anxiety, depression and anger in childhood and adolescence.

Our presenter is Alejandra Dozal. Alejandra Dozal, M.Ed., LPC | Registered Play Therapist Alejandra is a native El Pasoan and is currently working with El Paso Child Guidance Center where she services a variety of populations, in its majority sexually abused children, utilizing a client centered, trauma informed care approach, play therapy, and the expressive arts. With an Associate in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor in Psychology and a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling and an extensive education on child development and play therapy, Alejandra serves as the Past President for the Far West Texas Association for Play Therapy Chapter and dedicates her life advocating for the safety and well being of children and her values are founded in honesty, respect, and genuineness and the communion between mind, body and spirit
