Texas PTA's Newest Student Program

The YES! program will provide young Texans with meaningful insight into the workings of policymaking and the art of civic engagement. Students will leave with new skills to be applied in their own communities — on campus, online, and in the field when serving others.

Application Timeline

  • Application open February 7 - 28, 2019.

  • Announcements made March 4, 2019.

  • Student commitment due by March 13, 2019.

Who Can Apply?

  • The program is open to all rising high school seniors (Class of 2020).

  • Students must attend a high school that has a Local PTA/PTSA, and the student must be a current member of that same PTSA.

  • Up to 30 students will be selected in the first year.


  • Texas PTA is subsidizing 75% of all program costs including housing and meals.

  • A $75 deposit is due on March 13, 2019. The remaining $175 balance is due by April 15, 2019.

Student Arrival and Dismissal

  • Student drop-off is on Sunday, June 2 in the early afternoon*.

  • Student pick-up is on Tuesday, June 4 after 2:00 pm*.

    These are estimates and exact times will be provided after the selected students have been announced.

Once a candidate begins the online application, any information entered will not be saved if the application is closed before completion. We suggest preparing your responses in advance to help ensure a smooth application process. All responses must be a minimum of 150 words and may not exceed 300 words.
